Download Eat, Pray, Love One Woman's Search for Elizabeth Gilbert

Starred Review. Gilbert (The Last American Man) grafts the structure of romantic fiction upon the inquiries of reporting in this sprawling yet methodical travelogue of soul-searching and self-discovery. Plagued with despair after a nasty divorce, the author, in her early 30s, divides a year equally among three dissimilar countries, exploring her competing urges for earthly delights and divine transcendence. First, pleasure: savoring Italy's buffet of delights--the world's best pizza, free-flowing wine and dashing conversation partners--Gilbert consumes la dolce vita as spiritual succor. "I came to Italy pinched and thin," she writes, but soon fills out in waist and soul. Then, prayer and ascetic rigor: seeking communion with the divine at a sacred ashram in India, Gilbert emulates the ways of yogis in grueling hours of meditation, struggling to still her churning mind. Finally, a balancing act in Bali, where Gilbert tries for equipoise "betwixt and between" realms, studies with a merry medicine man and plunges into a charged love affair. Sustaining a chatty, conspiratorial tone, Gilbert fully engages readers in the year's cultural and emotional tapestry--conveying rapture with infectious brio, recalling anguish with touching candor--as she details her exotic tableau with history, anecdote and impression.

Downlod Stieg Larsson - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Once you start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, there's no turning back. This debut thriller--the first in a trilogy from the late Stieg Larsson--is a serious page-turner rivaling the best of Charlie Huston and Michael Connelly. Mikael Blomkvist, a once-respected financial journalist, watches his professional life rapidly crumble around him. Prospects appear bleak until an unexpected (and unsettling) offer to resurrect his name is extended by an old-school titan of Swedish industry. The catch--and there's always a catch--is that Blomkvist must first spend a year researching a mysterious disappearance that has remained unsolved for nearly four decades. With few other options, he accepts and enlists the help of investigator Lisbeth Salander, a misunderstood genius with a cache of authority issues. Little is as it seems in Larsson's novel, but there is at least one constant: you really don't want to mess with the girl with the dragon tattoo.

Downlod Susan Mallery - Almost Perfect

Back in high school, Liz Sutton was the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. Then she’d stolen the heart of the most popular boy in town, and their secret romance helped her through the worst of times. Until Ethan Hendrix betrayed her and everything they’d ever meant to each other. Devastated and pregnant, Liz left Fool’s Gold, California – forever, she thought…

Now Liz must return to town and face the man who doesn’t know of their son’s existence. And this time she won’t have the option of making a quick getaway. Ethan and Liz can’t deny their passionate attraction, even after all these years. But will their desire be enough to spark a second chance at love?
After finishing Chasing Perfect, I was pretty excited to read Ethan and Liz's story. Liz wasn't in Chasing Perfect but I was curious about her anyway. The whole secret baby plot is not a favorite of mine and I usually try to stay away from those kinds of story lines but I couldn't stay away from reading this book.

First off, Mallery did a fantastic job of keeping me right smack dab in the middle of this story. She did a great job of making sure that I was interested right up until the very end. There wasn't a moment while reading this book that I wished I was reading something else. I was right there in the thick of all of the drama between Ethan and Liz and at times it was hard to get through but I never once wanted to put the book down.

Ethan and Liz have a past together. Ethan comes from the Hendrixes and they have a reputation in their little town of Fools Gold. Liz is from the other side of the tracks. Her mother was an abusive mess and Liz got a lot of shit because of her. She got a lot of shit at home and she got a lot of shit at school. She was just a young girl who needed someone on her side and grew up learning that nobody had your back but you.

Not even the boy that claimed to love you more than anything.

Over the course of the book, my heart hurt for Liz. She couldn't run away from who her Mother was. She couldn't run away from the memories that being back in Fools Gold brought and she couldn't run away from the boy who shattered her heart into a million pieces over and over again.

Reading this book was personal for me not because I know what it's like to be treated the way that Liz was treated back in high school but because of the whole baby daddy issues thing. Reading about Liz's struggles to do the right thing had me tearing up a whole lot and made my heart hurt because I know exactly how she feels. The guilt, the wonder and everything is a lot to take on and Liz did all of those things with nobody in her corner. I had a caring family that supported me through everything but Liz didn't. She didn't have anyone but three young kids who needed her more than she needed someone else.

Was it wrong of Liz to keep Tyler away from Ethan all those years? Of course but did I understand and sympathize with Liz? Yep. Did I understand why Ethan was pissed to high heaven over having been robbed of time with his child? Of course but did that stop me from getting good and pissed with him for putting Liz through everything that he did when they came back to Fools Gold? You betcha.

I guess without Ethan acting a fool with the whole court thing, we wouldn't have had a story but still, he pissed me off with all of that.

I kept going back to before Liz left town. The way that Ethan treated her in public made me so bleeping mad at him that I couldn't help but sympathize with Liz for her actions in the whole bloody mess. Is it wrong of me? Yeah but I didn't care. My heroes are supposed to be the knight in shining armor and they're supposed to stand up for their women but Ethan didn't. Yeah, he was a kid but he was already in college....he wasn't that young.

The constant fighting and bickering that went on between Ethan and Liz got a little tiring in some parts of the book because they kept having sex and throwing everything out of whack. And then Ethan was such a dumb ass throughout the book, he made me want to clock him over the head a few dozen times.

But all's well that ends well and I really enjoyed the emotional roller coaster Mallery took us on with this one. This book fueled my desire to read Pia and Raoul's story and man it was good to see that not everyone in Fools Gold were always picture perfect. Pia may have been a bitch but she grew up to be a stand up woman who is great. I'm very much looking forward to reading her book and see what she decides to do where Crystal's stuff is concerned.

This book was good and I definitely recommend this to lovers of the series. It's a great addition and it'll make you thirsty for more

Lorna Freeman - [Borderlands - 1] - Covenants

Covenants is a fascinating, stellar fantasy novel that will have many readers scrambling to find all of Lorna Freeman's previous novels - but there are no previous Lorna Freeman novels. The book reads as if it is the work of a master craftsman in the genre, but Covenants is in fact the author's first published work. This novel is so engaging that I actually read it twice. The action takes place in a world divided into two kingdoms, one human and the other Faena. The Border kingdom is made up of "magical" creatures of all shapes and sizes - dragons, fairies, sprites, elves, and the like. They once called the land of Iversterre home, and they trounced the human army of Iversterre once before in the not too distant past. Mysterious forces at work threaten to bring war to the land once again.
Rabbit is a regular soldier in the Royal Army of Iversterre, a self-described farmer's son who left the Border in order to see the world; when we meet him, he and his entire troop are lost, right on the outskirts of their base in Freston. Up in the hills, Rabbit encounters a Fae cat named Laurel, and a meal covenant between the two sets the stage for a grand adventure that takes the reader to the heart of the royal palace in Iversterre and then all the way to Elanwryfindyll, a coastal city deep within the Border kingdom itself. Laurel has come from the Borderlands on a mission of peace, and Rabbit soon finds himself playing a crucial role in preventing another war between Iversterre and the land of his birth. A number of secrets are revealed as Rabbit and his fellow troopers accompany Laurel to Iversterre, including the fact that Rabbit is actually a cousin to King Jusson of Iversterre and family to many of the leading members of the human aristocracy. Rabbit holds an even deeper secret than that, though - one that has everything to do with why he left the Border kingdom in the first place.
War appears to be imminent; raiders have plundered the Borderland, killing significant numbers of its sacred residents and turning them into staffs, furniture, armor, and the like. It turns out that significant conspiracies - against both King Jusson of Iversterre and the High Council of the Borderlands - are afoot. The novel takes a number of twists and turns, staying ever fresh, exciting, and unpredictable. Even Rabbit's commanding officers are much more than they seem. The whole novel is in fact filled with all manner of fascinating characters, human as well as "magical," and the complexity of the interpersonal and professional relationships keeps this story zooming along in a highly addictive manner. Things can be confusing a bit early on, especially when Rabbit begins seeing men in their translated (magical) form, but all is made clear when the reader learns just who and what Rabbit actually is. For his part, Rabbit is a remarkably normal, likeable character who wants nothing more than to be an anonymous soldier but is compelled to become a hero by the remarkable circumstances of his heritage.
Covenants easily secures a spot on my list of "must read" fantasy novels. Freeman has written a highly entertaining, refreshingly original story that proceeds at a fast pace, introduces us to dozens of unforgettable characters (not to mention spirits), and takes us to a world brimming with fantastical possibilities and intrigues. There is also a lot of humor to be found in these pages. The plot itself is rather complex, but Freeman's writing is so polished and well-nigh perfect that few readers should have any problems keeping up. The story is told in the first person, from Rabbit's viewpoint, so the reader feels as if he is right there each and every step (and surprise) of the way. It takes a special kind of writer to make a first-person fantasy novel work, and Lorna Freeman shows herself to be more than up to the challenge. Covenants is an extraordinary debut by a rising star in the fantasy genre.

Victoria Laurie - [Psychic Eye Mystery 08] - A Glimpse of Evil

Professional psychic Abigail Cooper has received a cold welcome from some prickly investigators at the FBI. But that won't stop her from following her intuition...even if it brings her eye to eye with acts of true evil.

SOME COLD CASES ARE BETTER LEFT COLD...

As the FBI's newest civilian profiler, Abby Cooper has a tough job ahead of her. Not only does she have to use her powers of intuition to help solve a backlog of the bureau's cold cases, but she must also win over a frosty group of seasoned investigators and teach them how to develop their own perceptive abilities.

If that weren't challenging enough, Abby's sure that several of the cold cases are connected, but she's the only one who's convinced. Things go from bad to worse when Abby and another agent are suspended for not following protocol, leaving Abby and her old partner, Candice, to investigate on their own. To discover how these pieces fit together, Abby will have to call on every intuitive bone in her body...before she's the one put on ice.

Absolutely love this series!!

Abby and Dutch have moved to Texas along with their crew of friends -- to start new jobs. Abby has a job with Dutch working on solving cold cases for the FBI. I really enjoy the relationship between Dutch and Abby as well as the adventures that Abby finds herself constantly drawn into.

Can't believe that I am going to have to wait a year for the next book. Looks like it is time to drag out Victoria Laurie's Ghost hunter series.
